Shalom Charity Mission - Children Project

For the past 18 years God had been gracious enough to proclaim gospel and establish churches in around 600 village in the state of Rajasthan, M.P and Gujarat amongst the Bhil people whose population goes beyond 80 lakhs. Around 20000 families who have been living in darkness, drunkenness and the bondage of sin, received a new life in Jesus Christ.  Glory be to God!

Generally, as we have known, Bhil natives would not send their children to school. There are shortage of school activities. Nor are there service- minded teachers.  Students have to walk miles and miles to reach their school. Since most of the village have no electrical facilities, chances to study at night are not available. Moreover the parents of the native children who encourage them to study are not literate,  Since, generally, at night times drunkards and robbers are moving around, conditions for studying are not suitable. Even though they have ambition to study, it is impossible for them to continue their studies after 5th class. In village primary schools, there is prevalent a situation in which there is found no proper reading and writing amongst children. Majority of the villagers, while they are working in town for daily wages, take the children along with them so as to take care of the babies. In each and every village few children are found who have passed 8th Standard. Those who have passed 10th  and 12th are easily countable. Seeing college students in a village is a rare thing. Above all, when a native student is doing well in his studies, his neighbor or relative, out of envy, urge the evil spirits to block his studies. Since they were lacking in finances for educational expenses such as note books and book and food amenities, to make the students study above 8th standard in highly difficult. Moreover, since most of them are below the poverty line, they will not allow their children to study. Although reservation quota is allowed to them, since they lack the educational qualification to receive this, on every side obstacles come in the way of their development.

Now those believer- families who have accepted Christ and have been set free from sin, curse and devil are looking forward to the fulfilment of their ambition that their children should study well and live with witness and that they do not live like them. So, having understood these needs, we are doing whatever is possible for the education mission each year, burdening ourselves.

In the past two centuries, western missionaries have shown us the light of gospel, have led us to God and have constructed beautiful churches. Today, we have been receiving education for the past four generation through Christian educational institutions which were handed over to us by the missionaries in those days, not only in Tamil nadu but also in several cities in India. Even today they stand as a blessing not only for Christians but also for all, irrespective of caste or creed. This is an irrefutable truth. Today we, who have gained the love of Christ and educational growth, should open the eyes of the illiterate. It is our duty. God has chosen these Bhil people and has chosen native evangelists with wonders and signs and He has been forming churches in every village Bhil native.

 SCHEMES FOR TRIBAL CHILDREN

Shalom Mission has taken efforts to improve the state of children.  Plans have been made to build schools and hostels in Gujarat.  We are in need of land and financial support for the same.

In Bijallpur, Rajasthan, we have Shalom School and Hostel.  But it is not our own land.  It is a rented one.  So we have plans to build a school and a hostel in our own land.  In Goika, orphans stay in the church only.  We need to build hostels there too.  In Anthervalia, we have lands and we need to build hostels.

Details of tribal children being educated:

1.      I.P.Mission – Jhalod, Methodist-Gothra, Gujarat                                          87

2.      Shalom Hostel, Jesawada, Gujarat                                                               25

5.      Shalom Mission School and Hostel, Bijulpur, Rajasthan                         188

6.      Native evangelists’ children being supported                                              74

                                                                                                                                       --------

                                                                                                                                         895

Around 895 children are being supported by us in these three States.  For one child we need a minimum of Rs.400/- per month (Rs.4800 Per Year).  We have been called to share God’s love.  So let us extend our love towards these children and support them.  So far, there are 350 patrons.  We need 545 more patrons immediately.

Therefore we are desirous of fulfilling the following projects with the help of the Holy Spirit.

  •  Ten schools must be completely constructed in all the three states (i.e) Dahod (Gujarat), Banaswara (Rajasthan), Jhabua(Madhya Pradesh)

  •  In all the three states, 100 native Bhil students hostels should be constructed to take care of 10000 Bhil native students.
